A Day Onboard on a Cruise Ship
So what do cruise ships have to offer in accommodations and activities? Just about everything you can imagine. Read below for a few of the many activities and entertainment options you can find while cruising.
8 a.m. Took a half hour jog around the upper deck. What a view! Met several other early morning joggers and went to breakfast together. We had a wonderful breakfast buffet with every type of treat imaginable. Glad I went jogging!
9 a.m. After a quick shower, I headed to shore for a game of golf. Breathtaking views of the ocean from every green and I even came in under par!
1 p.m. Found a pleasant cafe, recommended to me by the ship’s concierge for lunch, to sample the local cuisine. I then browsed the market place for some souvenirs.
2:30 p.m. Decided to take a tour of the some archeological sites just on the outskirts of town. It is amazing to see what ancient cultures left behind. The ride to and from the site helped me to see more of the landscape and local people.
6 p.m. Dinner on the ship. Everyone was dressed to the nine’s. It made the dinner feel so regal. My waiter even remembered exactly how I like my steak and what salad dressing I preferred. It was first class treatment all the way. I exchanged stories with my table mates about what we did during the day. One of the brave ladies at the table had gone parasailing while a gentlemen told us what we could find at the local art museum. A young couple at the table asked if we wanted to join them for a concert they heard about on shore. I decided to stay on the ship and see the show.
8 p.m. Grabbed a quick drink in the lounge with some new friends I had met at the “port of call” information lecture yesterday. Then we all headed to the theater for the show. It was magnificent. They began with folk dancers of the region and progressed through comedy skits and musical presentations. The finale had us all on our feet applauding a first rate performance.
11 p.m. The group of us decided we needed to dance off some of our theater excitement before bed. To our surprise we found the lounge roaring with the sound of Big Band music. We jitter bugged and west coast swinged for the next few hours.
2 a.m. Time for some rest. I returned to my cabin and sat out on the balcony for a few moments, enjoying the view. We will be heading to a new port tomorrow. I think I’ll spend some quiet time reading and relaxing by the pool…
